BLD Academy

 

BLD concentrates its scientific activities at the BLD Academy.
 
Our lawyers teach at universities and train young legal academics. They share their know-how in form of publications, presentations and activities at various scientific committees, they train insurance actuaries in cooperation with Deutsche Aktuar Akademie and they conduct in-house training courses at the clients' premises. In addition to that, they give presentations and hold discussions during the BLD meetings at our own premises and at continuing education events that are organized in cooperation  with external seminar organizers.
 
The person in charge of these activities is Nadine Loop, who is assisted by our research associates.

 

 

Continuing Education

Our lawyers conduct numerous external seminars  for various seminar organizers across all insurance sectors and order segments. They receive support from our research team.

We conduct in-house training courses and workshops on a regular basis. We report on the newest trends and developments in the market and in case law in a way that is tailored to our clients' needs. An overview of our workshops and in-house seminars can be found here (german).

 

Scientific Institutions

Our partners and employees sit on the boards of numerous academic continuing education institutions, for example on the committee of Deutscher Verein für Versicherungswissenschaft, on the advisory board of Forschungsstelle der Universität Münster and on the advisory board of Förderverein der Fachhochschule Köln, Institut für Versicherungswesen.

 

One of our partners is also co-publisher of Zeitschrift für Versicherungsrecht (VersR).

 

Actuary Training

Deutsche Aktuar-Akademie (DAA) has commissioned us to train the future members of Deutsche Aktuarvereinigung (DAV) on all matters related to insurance contract law.
 
Here are particularly involved the BLD-partners Bastian Finkel, Dr. Joachim Grote und Björn Seitz.

Dual Training

Particularly qualified junior lawyers can participate in our Dual Training program, i.e. an 18-month postgraduate, practice-oriented on-the-job training program, to become insurance lawyers (with an LL.M. degree and training to become a Specialized Insurance Lawyer): scientifically profound theory and practical on-the-job training go hand in hand at BLD.
 
Apart from participating in the "Insurance Law" LL.M. program of our cooperation partner Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, these graduates will also complete a supplementary training program within the scope of the BLD Academy.
